Star Wars: Tangent Destiny
Shedu Maad has the second largest Jedi Academy in the galaxy. The academy was established in 41 ABY and has about 130 Jedi, but beyond the academy, there are only about two dozen people. There are no other settlements elsewhere on Shedu Maad.
Aside from the academy, the only other buildings on Shedu Maad is the small control tower for the spaceport and a hanger for the handful of starships. There’s also a machine and electronics repair and parts shop, a small café restaurant, a general store, a tavern, and several small houses for those who don’t work or live at the academy. There is also a small, independent mining operation a few kilometers from the academy.
The terrain around the academy is dry and rocky, with orangish sandy ground. Ravines and outcroppings are plentiful with occasional vegetation, mostly small orange or yellow shrubs, and leafy cactus-like plants. Though not hot, it doesn’t rain often, usually brief but very strong thunderstorms. There is not an abundance of animal life on the planet either. Insects and arachnids are fairly common, as are a variety of small reptiles and birds, including a species of small flying lizards and half-meter tall flightless birds. There are a few small mammals as well. There are very few surface lakes on the planet, but underground lakes and rivers are known to have several species of fish. Reptiles are the most prominent species on the planet, with the largest growing to about a two meters. Though the larger reptiles are predatory, they are not considered a danger to a cautious adult humanoid.
The academy on Shedu Maad has a small shuttle named the Starseeker that can carry up to 24 passengers and two smaller shuttles named the Rayskipper and the Sunchaser. There is also a small transport named The Ronto primarily used for carrying supplies.
